On Sunday evening, April 3rd at 6 pm in Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall there will be a community potluck meal followed by a free concert at 7 o’clock by professional musicians Samantha George (violin) and Stanislav Venglevski (bayan a.k.a. button accordion). Memo: Food and fixin’s at 6, Sam & Stas at 7.
The whole community is invited to these Sunday evening events. They are being sponsored by: The Washington Island Music Festival, Trinity Lutheran Church, Sievers, The Red Barn, Barbara Hansen, Frank and Mary Maxwell, Connie Hatch, Dan Hansen, LeVaun Mann, Bob Brown, Dave Raup and Judie Yamamoto.
On Monday, Sam and Stas will spend time in the Washington Island School with the K-12 students.
Last summer over coffee, Samantha suggested that Stas join her on the Island for another musical visit to the Island school. Samantha was a Musicians in Our Midst guest artist in March of 2010 sponsored by The Washington Island Music Festival. It was an amazing day spent in two sessions with the 1st-4th grades, then 5th-8th grades, and a concert/lecture to the K-12 assembly at the end of the day. I asked if they would be willing to do a Sunday evening concert at Trinity for the entire community to hear and enjoy. Each of these musicians alone is fantastic and as a duo will be truly dynamic!
The following information was taken from each of their web sites.
